The confirmation that ozone therapy is effective against Covid 19 comes from China with an official letter from the University of Tianjin to Dr. Antonio Galoforo, who since the end of January has carried out intense collaboration with the Chinese authorities to define its use and who was the first, also in Italy, to publish a study on its possible effectiveness on the SIOOT portal.
After the Higher Institute of Health, while not giving preventive therapeutic value to ozone therapy against Covid-19, has, however, in recent days, with rigor and attention to patients in this difficult historical moment, defined the criteria so that hospitals can decide to use it, important scientific feedback comes from China; Professor Dong Ming of the University of Tianjin, in the letter addressed to Dr. Galoforo, summarizes how the support he provided, since January, has made it possible to develop a protocol, validated by the ethics committee of Haihe University and Hospital, which is applied with positive results on patients with different stages of disease progression.
This important feedback is added to the opening, which is finding space for verification in several Italian hospitals, made by the Higher Institute of Health that in the letter sent by the President’s Head of the Scientific Secretariat of the ISS, Dr. Luigi Bettinato, to the President of the SIOOT on Tuesday 24 March, the Higher Institute of Health clearly defines the ways in which it is possible to evaluate oxygen ozone therapy in patients affected by Covid-19.
This is not an authorization but not even a refusal; the ISS defines, taking into account the SIOOT protocols filed in 2018 and the scientific evidence existing at present, a clear perimeter within which it is possible to hypothesize the use of oxygen ozone therapy against Covid-19; the letter reads: “… since the proposal seems to be shared and supported by clinical centers who are experts in the treatment of viral pneumonia, if considered appropriate the treatment could be carried out under the responsibility of the doctor, after obtaining the patient’s informed consent. Given the ‘experimental’ nature of the use, this indication, which also requires specific experience on the part of the doctor and the availability of appropriate equipment, it is considered appropriate to also obtain the opinion of the Ethics Committee.” The ISS also specifies that the trial must be authorized by the Italian Medicines Agency.
We can therefore say that the efforts of the SIOOT and in particular of Dr. Antonio Galoforo, member of the board of directors of the SIOOT and the first doctor in Italy to develop a scientific rationale for this possible application, are finally receiving positive feedback not only in Italy but also internationally.
Let’s go in order: already at the end of January, Dr. Antonio Galoforo and his team, when Covid-19 was still confined to Wuhan, began to make the scientific community Chinese and not aware that ozone could be a valid ally to combat the spread of Covid-19; in mid-February, supported by consolidated institutional relations that had been active for months with China, he welcomed a delegation of Chinese doctors to Italy and held a conference call with Prof. Chen Qun, Secretary General of “China Life Science Security” of Bejing/Beijing and others 272 managers of the Chinese Ministry of Health, heads of some hospitals in Beijing and managers of Chinese research centers where Dr. Galoforo illustrated the scientific evidence and the protocol on the use of ozone, thus raising the interest of the participants in this approach to combat Coronavirus, as later taken up on February 26 by the statements of Professor Zhou Muzhi, on the China.org.cn website, in the article entitled “Ozone: A powerful weapon to combat COVID-19 outbreak” ( http://www.china.org.cn/opinion/2020-02/26/content_75747237.htm
Another cornerstone of this result was the publication on the SIOOT website on February 21, when Covid-19 was also beginning to spread in Italy, by Dr. Galoforo and his Fatebenefratelli team in Brescia, of research in which he highlighted how ozone therapy could be a valid support to combat the virus and defined its scientific rationale for its possible use; the research highlighted how this therapy had already given important and significant results in the treatment of pneumonia, as well as other viruses similar to Covid-19 such as SARS and Ebola, documenting everything with an extensive scientific bibliography.
In the following weeks, Dr. Galoforo took action at international level to further deepen his knowledge on the approach he proposed, collecting important positive feedback through Dr. Li Peter of Guaghzuo who reported the significant results of some Chinese hospitals that were successfully using ozone therapy (Tianji Haihe Hospital and The Second Hospital of Tanjin Medical University) and from Dr. Rowen who in California has already activated a specific department of his clinic to treat Covid-19 patients with oxygen ozone therapy and that in recent days has published an important study in the scientific journal “Journal of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology” entitled “A Plausible Penny Costing Effective Treatment for Coronavirus- Ozone Therapy”.
Dr. Galoforo’s effort has materialized in recent weeks also in raising awareness, in the light of additional international scientific evidence, both the institutions, primarily those of the Lombardy region, and the bodies in charge, of the validity of this approach, decisively underlining its low cost and above all the absence of side effects.
The important international recognition received from China with the clinical and university validation of the use of ozone therapy is accompanied by the result achieved by SIOOT, which is already coordinating the application of the protocol in various hospitals in Italy, with the intense work not only of the Presidents of SIOOT, Prof. Franzini and Prof. Valdenassi, but also of those who, like Dr. Galoforo, have seen oxygen ozone therapy as a valid ally against Covid-19 for months and have worked to achieve this result. The invitation is therefore for other hospitals to decide to evaluate the use of oxygen ozone therapy to help Coronavirus patients, remembering that ozone is an ancient remedy, but it is proving to be a possible medicine of the future.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]THE STUDY. Signs of improvement in more severe patients. The mild ones have healed.
The all-Brescia team that contributed to the research is composed of Catia Scassellati and Cristian Bonvici from the Fatebenefratelli Institute. “This is no accident,” explains Antonio Galoforo, member of the board of directors of the Sioot Scientific Society for Oxygen and Ozone Therapy, which collaborates with the Higher Institute of Health and contact person for the Lombardy Region for hearings on the use of ozone in medicine and the environment. “Right here, a unique project in the world, lasting three years and funded entirely by the Ministry of Health, is being carried out, which involves the application of ozone therapy to treat cognitive frailty and Alzheimer’s,” explains the professor at the University of Pavia.
BUT HOW CAN OZONE attack Covid-19?
“Ozone is an antibacterial, antimycotic and antiviral that works by destroying the virus capsule, so it prevents it from replicating – explains Antonio Galoforo -. It also activates circulation, reduces inflammatory states and stimulates the immune system tremendously. If we put all these effects together, the benefits are obvious.”
THE PROCEDURE involves taking the patient’s blood, and adding a mixture of oxygen and ozone to the blood bag. The blood thus’ enriched ‘is then returned to the patient.
“During the trial, various patients were treated at various stages: from asymptomatic positives to those already on forced ventilation or in an already compromised situation,” the doctor points out. And the results can be seen in a few days.”
In fact, since the first report of the Sioot on the first two hospitals that started therapy – to date there are 15 facilities where oxygen ozone therapy is being practiced – eleven patients in serious conditions have had a rapid and decisive improvement. The patient with the least serious conditions recovered after a few sessions and returned home.
The only deceased in the group was in a largely compromised condition. C.REB.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3031″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3033″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
